Who I am
This website is run by Stuart Lawrence, who writes as SG Lawrence ("I", "me"). I am the data controller for any personal information collected through this site. You can contact me at hello@sglawrence.co.uk.
What I collect
If you join my mailing list, I collect your email address. That is all I ask for.
If you email me, I will also have your email address and whatever you choose to tell me in your message.
Why I collect it and my legal basis
I use your email address to send you news about my books, release dates and occasional behind-the-scenes updates. I only do this because you have consented to it by signing up and confirming your subscription. This is my lawful basis under UK GDPR.
I do not use your details for anything else, and I do not sell or share your address with anyone for their own marketing.
Who processes your data
My website and mailing list are provided by IONOS, which stores and sends emails on my behalf. IONOS acts as a data processor and handles your information only on my instructions. You can read how IONOS handles data in its own privacy information.
How long I keep it
I keep your email address until you unsubscribe. After that it is removed from my active list. IONOS may keep a minimal record that you unsubscribed, so that you are not added again by mistake.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that is wrong
- ask me to delete your data
- object to or restrict how I use your data
- withdraw your consent at any time, without giving a reason
To use any of these rights, email hello@sglawrence.co.uk.
Unsubscribing
Every email I send has an unsubscribel link at the bottom. Click it and you will be removed. You can also email me and ask to be taken off the list.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, please contact me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
